Building Community Support
Rev. Oscar King III, D. Min. will describe how the church he pastors in Detroit identifies neighborhood residents living alone. When one of these residents are admitted to the hospital, a host of services are coordinated including placing a church volunteer in their homes to prevent potential burglaries.
Biography - Rev. Oscar King III, D.Min.
Dr. King is a former Executive Director of the Detroit Neighborhood and Family Initiative (DNFI) and is also a former United States Federal Foreclosure Commissioner for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). He also served as the Chairman of the Board for the Detroit Urban League and the Detroit Metropolitan Orchestra. Previous positions include Group Manager for Real Estate, Procurement, Asset Management and Corporate Security for Ameritech Publishing Inc., General Partner of King, LoPatin Associates (real estate developers in the Metropolitan Detroit area), and principal in K/L Ventures, Inc. Oscar has a Bachelors Degree in Architecture from Howard University, a Masters Degree in Land Economics and Real Estate from Harvard University and a Master of Divinity (Equiv.) from the Ecumenical Theological Seminary and holds a Doctor of Ministry from the Ecumenical Theological Seminary.
